"Real Architects Don't Quilt?" |
| |
Description: |
| |
I am a practicing architect, assistant Professor of Architecture and fiber artist whose
work has appeared in numerous publications and exhibitions such as "Quilt National",
"American Craft Magazine" and "The Quilter’s Quarterly Journal". Since 1998, I have been
teaching beginning design to students in architecture at Florida A & M University’s School
of Architecture, using some of the design principles found in both quilting and architecture.
Both use shape, composition, ordering systems, color, texture and pattern. This lecture
focuses on this unusual subject matter – finding common ground between quilting and architecture.
This is presented in an engaging manner, using many interesting ideas and thought-provoking images.
It also includes a trunk show showcasing my quilts as well as the work of my architecture students. |
